Spring / Summer 2021

It’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through 2021. What a year it has been for the whole world. I’m blessed to be part of the YWAM Kyiv community that has chosen to keep going strong and not let the pandemic stop us from moving forward. Here’s what I’ve been up to and what to expect this new season.

Titus Project

The first quarter of 2021 was all about the Titus Project. After three weeks of in-classroom training and preparing. The four outreach teams were off to their different locations. I was part of the Egypt team.

The Titus Project has been one of the most refreshing and inspiring programs I have ever been part of. Not only was each participant there to learn to be better teachers, each person that was part of the program had a desire to impart whatever God has given them.

Here I am with the Sphinx during a day off.

Getting to teach and preach in Egypt was a dream. Unfortunately, my time doing ministry was reduced due to contracting COVID. Most of you know that I was hospitalised during my time there. This caused me to miss out on teaching and therefore did not meet the minimum number of hours to validate the program. The good news however, is that I’ve been given two years to make up for those missed teaching hours and officially finish the Titus Project.

I decided to learn to play the ukulele in January. Here I am singing and playing after preaching at a church in Cairo.

Teams and Volunteers

Since coming back from outreach in Egypt, the majority of my time has been occupied with the Teams & Volunteers Department. I lead a very small team that coordinates all teams and volunteers that want to do outreach with YWAM Kyiv. With Ukraine being one of the few open countries during the pandemic, we have been blessed with incoming teams.

My hope and goal for each team or volunteer that we handle is that their short-term investment has long-lasting impact both in the people they minister to here in Ukraine, but also in themselves. To facilitate this mission, my days are filled with meetings and emails. We are already seeing God’s faithfulness in this area as several of the teams that we are coordinating right now are lead by those who’ve worked with us before.

Discipleship Training School

While most of my time is spent coordinating teams and volunteers, my main ministry at YWAM Kyiv remains to be the Discipleship Training School. We are now currently preparing the next one. We always strive to improve so it is an exciting time now where we are able to create better systems and use new programs to better serve our future students.

I am personally excited to be teaching on Hearing God’s Voice in the fall.

Disciple Z

Another exciting program I get to be part of is Disciple Z, a three-week course for youth this July. It’s almost like “DTS light.” I’ll be teaching on Hearing God’s Voice as well as simply getting to journey with both local and international participants.

Praise and Thanksgiving

  1. Contracting COVID has left me with some long-lasting effects. My lungs were damaged and they are still not fully restored. In general though, my physical, mental, and emotional health are steadily improving.
  2. Living in, and being part of a faith and missions community continues to be a huge blessing. When most people were forced to be isolated, I continued to be surrounded by friends.
  3. A base Bible study just started that I get to be part of.
  4. Churches have reopened, so I am excited to be physically present at Sunday services.

Prayer Requests

  1. Finances. Rent has increased by 50% and it is also time to renew my Ukrainian residency permit. Contact me or click here for more info.
  2. I’ve recently committed for another three years with YWAM Kyiv. Please pray that about what these next years will look like.
Looking forward to more evenings like this here at YWAM Kyiv.
